That Which Was Lost

Our small group for Woman of Worth Mentoring Ministries is studying Share Jesus Without Fear Bible study.

During this Lent season, we often reflect on Jesus’ love poured out on the cross, and the disciples He called to work alongside Him. The Bible study shared that perhaps it was not the cross that killed Jesus, but our silence.

No one spoke up for Jesus.

When he was arrested and accused, no one defended Him, in fact, they all scattered, betrayed Him, and/or denied knowing Him.

“For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.” Matthew 18:11

Speaking up for Jesus, as we are learning, is not so your voice and opinions are heard (the activity), it’s about sharing what Jesus has so loving done in your life (the relationship).  Upon the realization of His love for you, what things or circumstances that were lost were then restored or redeemed by His love? We are quick to share a good vacation spot, restaurant, or a “you have to see this movie!”; yet, what about sharing what Jesus has done in your life so that maybe, just maybe, someone else can experience His love, too?

I heard a speaker share that her childhood was restored at 50 years old, when she began to study the love of Jesus–her heavenly Father.  For the first time, she knew what it meant to have the joy and freedom of knowing that her heavenly Father is someone she can trust!  She marveled at how child-like she became when she experienced His love and joy.  Although she had to fight, control, and fear as a child in her home, at 50 years old, she was able to experience pure freedom and joy through the message of Jesus, and daily reading of His Word.

Speak up for Jesus!  What a difference it could make in someone’s life!
