A friend shared pictures of her granddaughter going to her first day of school in preschool. Later that day, I asked her how it went. She shared that it went well, but she must have missed me because she kissed me about six times and gave me several hugs when she got home.
I smiled at the text and thought of how children naturally reach out when they need reassurance and comfort. As adults, our pride or inability to ask for help builds barriers. Do you ever long for reassurance and the hug that says, “I see you?”
Later that night, my dear friend Ashley sent a message that God had put my name on her heart to pray for me. She wanted to reassure me that God was there in all the moments. Then, she sent me a song. Here are the beautiful lyrics. The day needed reassuring love, and God provided through a prayer warrior.
Ron Hamiltan’s Testimony and song below.
Rejoice in the Lord
God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man
Give thanks to the Lord though your testing seems long
In darkness He giveth a song
O Rejoice in the Lord
He makes no mistake
He knoweth the end of each path that I take
For when I am tried
And purified
I shall come forth as gold
I could not see through the shadows ahead
So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead
I bowed to the will of the Master that day
Then peace came and tears fled away
Now I can see testing comes from above
God strengthens His children and purges in love
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care
Through purging more fruit I will bear
O Rejoice in the Lord
He makes no mistake
He knoweth the end of each path that I take
For when I am tried
And purified
I shall come forth
I shall come forth
I shall come forth as gold
