This year, we had a bumper crop of Wisteria on the pergola. We purchased the Wisteria about 19 years ago and replanted it when we completed renovations. The replanting challenged its growth; some years brought more blooms than others. This year, we started an annual festival to celebrate nature, God’s world, and our home. Parish and I enjoyed cleaning the backyard and setting up a play area for the grandchildren. We provided some gardening crafts and made up a song as a family. Spencer, Jr. suggested we make up a song to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. As we began to sing, everyone pitched in to create this song:
Wisteria, Wisteria on the pergola
We’re so glad you are not arugula
Wisteria, Wisteria, we love you
Hey! What’s the password? (that was from Spencer, Jr.)
That’s as far as we got on the song. There will be more years to be creative and celebrate. We will consider having it the Saturday after Easter celebration to mark a tradition (this year, the date was 4/6/2024); however, the blooms and the seasons will determine the date!
We topped our evening off with a visit to Sweet Frog to see Christi and Katie!
We missed you, Vivian, Autumn, and Cody–feel better soon!
