This week of June 29 – July 6, we are in Oak Island (The Lambs) and Southport, NC (Parish, Anna, and Valentina). I’ve decided to share our memories through one word each day. The first night together brought joyful laughter as we ate pizza at the Southport house. We both set up our homes, then got together to enjoy pizza take-out from Bella Cucina. If you order through Doordash, it is quicker to pick it up yourself, so consider this vs. home delivery. We stayed at River Hideaway Retreat. A cute little house within walking distance of all things fabulous in Southport, including the water. We are missing Vivian and her family this week due to work schedules. I loved that she got Autumn to FaceTime with us.

My word for Saturday, June 29, is “Together.”

I loved how we came together to enjoy a meal around the table together. Afterward, we walked into Southport proper for ice cream at Flava’s. The walk was filled with greeting others, laughter, and yelling at the kids to watch the cars.

When we returned, we sat on the deck and blew bubbles, and I braided Adelaide’s hair. I loved talking with her about her competitions and watching her expressions—she’s turning into a lady. I love to see all the women in our family inside her eyes and spirit, the generations blooming within her.

The next day, I reflected on Spencer Jr. and our bubble play. In a yoga session, the instructor talked about adults smiling 15 times daily and children at least 100. I believe my grandchildren are constantly smiling and laughing. Tomorrow’s word will be laugh or laughter.

I hope to write a post for each day. I am too busy being “together” to write this week. It’s good to just be in the moment. More later…
