Today is July 1, 2024! Oak Island Beach Day! Although we awoke with a storm, the rain cleared just in time for the festivities! I enjoyed an early morning walk to see my favorite flowers and homes. I especially love the church that has been converted into a dwelling place for a family.

Beach day was filled with water splash park, food trucks, games on the mainstage, music, and competitions of all kind–water balloon toss, sand castle, corn hole, Jimmy Buffet Karaoke, and baby swimsuit contest.

Afternoon naps are the best!

Parish and I ventured to Fishy Fishy for an appetizer.

Later that evening we went to see fireworks at Oak Island Pier. There is nothing like fireworks on the beach! They had a band playing just before the launch, and, truly, every year, the best fireworks I’ve ever seen! Well done!

Why the word “wonder?” Watching Huxley see fireworks for the first time reminded me of how important it is to never lose your sense of wonder and stop to recognize the beauty of our world, and the experiences that bring us joy.
