Reclaiming our lives

The Good Life Project has a podcast to introduce their series on reclaiming our lives from busy and stress. The subsequent podcasts after the manifesto are a worthy listen.

“When exactly did it happen?

That moment…

When did we stop CHOOSING our lives, and begin SURRENDERING to them.

Half-living each day as a reaction to the constant barrage of never-ending to-do lists, social obligations, work functions, status updates, and more? Pummeled by reactive, autopilot busyness, rather than living life as an expression of who we really are. Of what matters most. Of that delicious, brilliant, soulful, sexy and vital part of us that yearns not only to see the light of day, but also to be seen. To be heard. To be relished, loved, embraced, held. Celebrated.

When was the moment…” (Good Life Podcast, 6 Ways to Be More Present, Less Reactive and Enjoy Life More, 2024)

For quite some time, I found myself surrendering to situations beyond my control, merely accepting my circumstances without questioning them. While it’s true that I must recognize certain realities—like work demands, health concerns, and life’s obligations—I am now on a rewarding journey to reclaim my responses to those uncontrollable aspects of life.

Throughout this transformation, I feel the comforting presence of Spirit guiding me—offering solace, love, and a profound sense of support that fills my heart.

Ezekiel 36:26-27

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

As I navigate this journey, I reflect on essential questions from my studies: “What do you want?” “What do you love?” and “Where do we believe happiness is found?” (He’s Where the Joy Is, p. 199). While I’m still discovering the answers, I am confident that focusing on my emotional and physical well-being will lead to a life rich with fulfilling activities and meaningful connections.

I understand challenges will inevitably arise. However, when faced with difficulties, I remind myself of the Spirit within me. With that comforting presence, I can navigate any storm with grace and strength.

“Oh the Lord is with me
Yes the Lord is with me
Forever I am held within His hands
When the road was costly
It was Him who kept me
He held my life together even when” (This Place, The Belonging Company)

I’ve listened to this song on repeat

My favorite:

Oh the Lord surrounds me
He is all around me
His presence my delight
And my defense
He is great in glory there is none as holy
To be with Him is my inheritance

The video above is me alone, away with God, listening to His love and restoring my soul. One of the podcasts that discussed what stress does to your body and brain, shared to take notice what and who impacts your physical well-being. Then, to ask yourself, how can that be “less” in your life, or removed. And how can you show up with boundaries and self-compassion.

The beautiful moon over the water.
