My father, Tom Lloyd, wrote this poem.
WALKING IN SUNSHINE
Walking in sunshine
That’s sent from above.
Happiness is mine
Because of His love.
My heart is singing,
Oh, the joy that’s mine.
Glory bells are ringing,
Walking in sunshine.
My Lord’s beside me,
He has hold of my hand.
I know he’ll guide me
To that glory land.
His loving promise
Gives me peace of mind.
Walking with Jesus,
Walking in sunshine.
Oh, what a journey,
It’s leading me home.
Loved ones will greet me,
I won’t be alone.
Happy reunion, I know I will find.
All of God’s children
Walking in sunshine,
Walking in sunshine.
My Jesus and me,
Walking in sunshine
Because I am free.
When I grow weary
And darkness I find,
Jesus draws near me,
Walking in sunshine.
I found my daddy’s book and began to read his poems from long ago. I can remember his quiet time of writing and singing at church and local events. He is now living out this poem, finally free, without weariness, and walking in the sunshine of God’s glory.
See you soon, Daddy. For it truly is only but a blink of an eye, and we are forever changed. I miss you.
I had to come back to this post, Daddy. I’m cleaning today, and a song came on my mix from “Alexa, play Carole King.” The song is “Way Over Yonder.” Remember I recorded this song using my sound machine (the song is below) and sent it to you? It was my way to show you how much I love the music you gave me. It also represented the promise of heaven. We didn’t see eye to eye on the message of the song. Yet, the backdrop of your poem made me smile. I looked up, feeling the impact of the lyrics. What do you think now, Daddy? I’d love to talk to you.
Your daughter, Anna
Way over yonder
