When we went to Normandy, France, we had our first E-bike adventure, and this is where it all started. We came home, and the following weekend, Kul Wheels had an expo in the parking lot of Stone Brewery in Richmond. We went, and the rest is history! I highly recommend Kul Wheels! Purchasing an e-bike that your local bike shop can service is essential. If you buy from the internet, you risk getting a bike that can’t be serviced locally.

Our first adventure on the bikes was riding up to our grandson’s soccer game and lunch at our local Chick-fil-A!

We left there to head to the Virginia Capital Trail with a destination of Indian Fields Tavern, where they were having an ’80s band playing! This place is AMAZING! We made reservations for dinner later that night after listening to the band and dancing to our favorite ’80s songs! Make sure you check out the Virginia Capital Rail link above and download their map to check out places to park, eat, and camp.
We Face-timed Spencer Jr to listen to the guitar player. He loves music and dancing like his Ace.

We parked our car at The Herring Creek Trailhead. I linked the Google search because they do not have an official website. GPS will take you to a person’s house, where many signs say “private drive” (bless them). When you make the turn on the last road for the directions the lot is before this house and easy to miss. It truly is just a lot with a few spaces. This is a great place to park if you do not have the time to ride the entire trail from Richmond to Indian Fields Tavern.

We stayed at the tavern until about 9:00 p.m., and it was our first time driving at night. Our bikes had headlights and brake lights, which kept us safe, and other than the bugs hitting you in the face, it was a mystical ride in the dark.
If you go to Indian Fields Tavern, take a chair for the concert, check out their website (linked above) for any details, and make a dinner reservation if you want to enjoy their beautiful historical home. We used bungees to tie the chairs to our bike rack. The food was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the “Blue Crab Rangoon!” They are tremendous, yummy, and good to share with someone.
After this trip, we learned a lot about what accessories we needed for our bikes.
A travel bag for our rack that can be used as a sling bag when you park your bike.
A padded bike seat cover. You have to measure your seat in order to purchase the right one.
