Bike Adventures on High Bridge Trail

Another E-bike adventure! Although we were lagging due to illness, we packed our bags and kept our itinerary. The rain on Sunday kept us from a friend ride, which was disappointing, but Monday was a great sunny day for the High Bridge Trail in Farmville, VA. We watched a few YouTube videos about the trail.

High Bridge Trail Part 2

We stayed in Pamplin, VA, at Marigold!

There are plenty of restaurants in Farmville to enjoy! Use your map app to locate and select your favorite. We were in the mood for Macado’s. I highly recommend Margie’s Cashew Chicken Salad. We also loved stopping at Miller’s Country Store, which was a treasure of a market owned and operated by the Amish.

Marigold, just 20 minutes outside of Farmville, feels like it exists slightly outside of time—a haven of peace and wonder. As you roll down the quiet country roads and catch sight of the rolling fields, something settles in your chest. A calm. A knowing. This is where stillness lives.

Just around the corner lies the High Bridge Trail, a path that calls out to hikers, bikers, and daydreamers alike. Whether you begin your adventure in Pamplin—only three miles from an easy-access parking spot—or simply wander from your front porch, the journey feels like it starts the moment you step outside.

But the magic of this place isn’t just in the map coordinates—it’s in the soft flutter of hummingbirds at the feeder, the casual company of farm animals in neighboring pastures, and those unexpected sparks of joy like fireflies lighting up the dusk. One evening, a summer storm tiptoed in and cloaked the sky, then made way for a rainbow so vivid it felt like a painting brushed across the clouds.

This wasn’t just a getaway. It was a reminder of how rich and healing simplicity can be. Of how nature speaks when we finally get quiet enough to listen.

We stopped at the High Bridge Trail Station for a rest and a cool drink. We bought a fun postcard to mail, and while in Pamplin, VA, we stopped at the local post office to mail it! Our lungs are still healing, but I’m glad we made this work and got back out on the trail.
