An afternoon adventure to the Ashland Trolley Line Trail offers a delightful escape into a mix of nature and small-town charm. The trail, a nicely paved path, is perfect for a leisurely bike ride or a brisk walk. It is part of a bigger plan to connect Ashland to Petersburg, VA! Check it out here. Before our journey, I had a great lunch with high school friends Tracy Barrett and Janet Williams, with Janet’s mom! A lovely time of memories.
Starting at Carter Park, we were pleased to find a convenient bike air pump to get us ready for our journey and a great place to park. We headed south, enjoying the gentle three-mile ride. The trail weaves through quiet neighborhoods, offering glimpses of everyday life with children playing in their yards and the cheerful sounds of birds chirping in the trees. The surrounding nature is a peaceful backdrop to the journey, making it a truly pleasant experience.
After our ride and traveling north, we followed the clearly marked signs at Carter Park that led us right into the heart of Historic Town Ashland. We took our time exploring the unique shops, each with its own character. We made sure to stop at the local grocery store, which was a treasure trove of local goods.
To cap off our day, we had dinner at The Caboose Market and Cafe, a wonderful farm-to-table restaurant. The food was fresh, delicious, and a perfect ending to a day filled with exploration and discovery. The Ashland Trolley Line Trail is more than just a path; it’s a gateway to a charming town and a memorable day out.
