A Day of Daffodils and Coastal Charm in Virginia

The daffodils have been gorgeous this year. We decided to go back to an old stomping ground, Gloucester, VA, where we lived for a short time while Parish was in training to become a department store manager for Peebles. Gloucester was celebrating its 40th annual daffodil festival. The vendors, music, and food were varied and in abundance.

After we left Gloucester, we headed about 20 minutes away to York Beach, Yorktown, VA. When we took our oldest there about 35 years ago, the beach area may have had a restaurant and one hotel. Now, the location is booming with shops, trails, and places to eat, while still retaining its old-town charm. The old hotel is now condos. Remember seeing if your playmate “loved butter?” We laughed when I picked a yellow flower and held it up to Parish’s chin. He loves butter.

E-bike Adventures and other outdoor activities.

To eat and drink.

We enjoyed Water Street Grille and Mobjack Bay Coffee.

They have ample parking and bike racks. I loved the nature spots on the Colonial Parkway.

Did you know that Yorktown is a National Park? It’s a visitor center, and the trails are rich in history and offer engaging activities for adults, families, and children.

It was great to travel the Coleman Bridge again, connecting us to Yorktown Beach from Gloucester. While riding our bikes, we could stop and watch the Navel Ship pass through the raised bridge. Did you notice the little tug boat?

The video of the day! Check out the 80’s band and “You have a right to Parrrrrrrrrrrrty!” Go Parish!

I loved seeing a booth for Lighthouse Worship Center at the festival, and we passed it on the way to the beach. I worked at that church when we lived there, and we attended as a family.
