A beautiful friend of mine shared with deep compassion her love for India. She could better tell her story, but I just have to share with you what I took away from her discussion. She has extended family in India, but grew up mostly in the USA. She went to visit her family for two weeks this summer and came back changed. She shared with me how crowded, poverty ridden, and hard it is to survive the day-to-day in India as a commoner. You struggle, you push through the crowd, you starve, yet she noted there is more peace and joy in comparison there than in America. She was not speaking negative about America just noting the fact that we, as Americans, complain about things that would be praises in some areas of India.
As a social worker and growing up in America, she feels that possibly God is calling her to work in India at some point in her life, and give back to her country, her people. You could tell she wanted so much for me to understand her love for them, her passion to serve, and how truly blessed we are in our homes with running water, food on the table, doctors to take care of our sicknesses, clothes falling out of our closets. I will never forget her eyes, and her deep conviction. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do in her life, and I pray I can be a part of it in some way. God is going to do something….I can feel it. She closed her conversation with me by sharing that in our jobs we should remember to be servants to those we serve. Working and paychecks are blessings that many don’t have.
Henry Blackaby says this in Experiencing God (great study to discern the will of God in your life!)
You can’t stay where you are and MOVE with God. What is one thing we can do to “move” in a new direction and make a difference in the world around us!
“Psalms 67 “O God, in mercy bless us; let your face beam with joy as you look down at us. Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind. How everyone throughout the earth will praise the Lord! How glad the nations will be, singing for joy because you are their King and will give true justice to their people! Praise God, O world! May all the Peoples of the earth give thanks to you. For the earth has yielded abundant harvest. God, even our own God, will bless us. And Peoples from remotest lands will worship him.”
