Redeemed from the pit and crowned with love and compassion

During prayer time at church, a father shared a miracle story of his adult child being completely healed of cancer.  The doctors went in to remove the tumor from his intestines and the tumor was gone.  His testimony was anointed.  He spoke with authority not of himself but the work of Jesus.  During his prayer for us–that we would trust and believe in this miracle-working God– he began to pray the attributes of God–all God is to His children.

Psalm 103:4

who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

During the prayer, part of my worship was visualizing God crowning us with love and compassion.  I envisioned a merciful and powerful Father who has plenty of time for each of His children and touches us with His love beyond our comprehension.  He sees us as royalty and crowns us with the power of His love and compassion so we can live in peace and harmony with ourselves and others.

The Hebrew root of the word crown is to encircle or literally crown.  Claim the miracle of Him encircling you with love and compassion beyond your ability to love.  This is not human love.  This is not a random act of kindness kind of compassion.  It’s the kind of love and compassion that heals your low self-worth or self loathing and gives you confidence to do the things He has planned for you.  It’s the kind of love that gives you the ability to love and forgive a rebellious child, a wayward spouse, a coworker who betrays you, a person who abused you.

Maybe you are still hanging out in the pit.  You see His hand extended but for now it seems impossible to break free.  Joyce Meyer, a Bible teacher, shared,

“God causes things to happen at exactly the right time!  Your job is not to figure out when, but to make up your mind that you won’t give up until you cross the finish line and are living in the radical, outrageous blessings of God!  The more you trust Jesus and keep your eyes focused on Him, the more life you’ll have.  Trusting God brings life.  Believing brings rest.  So stop trying to figure everything out, and let God be God in your life.”

Whether you are in a pit or a desert season in your life right now, keep your eyes focused on God.  Worship Him.  Know that triumph is on the way!

Hillsong: Desert Song, powerful worship song

“Desert Song”

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that’s within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides

And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me, Lord, through the flame

[Chorus:]
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

And this is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I’ll stand

[Chorus:]
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

[Bridge 4x:]
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve received I will sow
