My father shared his testimony of prayer from a young boy of 12 who accepted Jesus as Savior to an 80 something year old man. To fellowship with God through the communion of prayer and talking to Him brings a closeness– an intimate relationship.
From my Lent book by Sue Mink:
“There is no way to meet Jesus face to face and escape his demands. We can plead incompetency–Jesus provides. We can plead unworthiness–Jesus forgives. We can plead brokenness-Jesus heals. We cannot both follow Jesus and also stay where we are.”
After listening to him share, we all piled into the car and headed to a beautiful church to pray. The sweetness of the fellowship, the courage of the people to show up and believe in a God who answers prayer, the music, and most of all the communion with Jesus brought all of us joy. The pastor was filled with messages of grace and the power of prayer.
The sweetness lingered in our home.
What great news for believers! Jesus is always accessible, never busy or distracted, or withholding. He is always available to you personally and is an intimate, close friend. He loves you.
I Chronicles 16:11
Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
The prayer meeting ended with the pastor encouraging us through the knowledge of the Word–His mercies are knew every morning! Today we can open our eyes and walk into the world with a fresh encounter asking God how we can serve Him today and learn from His Holy Spirit! A new, fresh day!
So, today be purposeful and take action to seek the Lord and His love. Get your mind off self and more on Him. As a believer, He lives within you–His power and love IN you! You do not have to add anything to yourself by doing or proving. We only need to call on what is already available and there within us.
Prayer for Divine Guidance
Open my lips, O Lord,
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence
and take not your holy Spirit from me.
Give me the joy of your saving help again
and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought
us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty
power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by
adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your
purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
