Homemade Pasta

We took an adventure out to Wegman’s Grocery Store to purchase steaks and potatoes for my daughter and her husband’s one year anniversary.

While there, we found some other things that we just could not leave without purchasing.  My husband loves to cook new recipes.  Have you ever made your own pasta?

He followed the basic recipe on the bag.  Let’s get started.

1 1/2 cups Bob’s Red Mill Semolina Flour

1/2 Teaspoon of salt (optional, we used the salt)

2 eggs or three egg whites, beaten

2 tablespoons of water

2 tablespoons of olive oil

Combine the flour and salt. Add the beaten eggs (or egg whites), water and oil.

Mix to make a stiff dough. Knead 10 minutes or until dough is elastic.  Wrap dough in a towel and place in plastic bag and let rest for 20 minutes.  On a lightly floured surface, roll out to desired thickness and cut as desired.

Bring large pot of water containing half a teaspoon of oil to a boil.  Add pasta and cook until tender.

Serve with your favorite sauce or pesto, or toss with olive oil, or butter, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.
