Deeply Rooted: Freedom

July is here! Our family just spent the last week on vacation, and we are all back unpacking, washing clothes, and trying to get back to a sense of “normalcy”.  Vacation has a way of bringing you closer to your loved ones as you live, eat, sleep, and play together. 24/7.

As the calendar moved from June to July my mind thought of the word “freedom”. That precious word in which we know that freedom is never free. It comes with a price so that others can experience freedom. Every person walking this earth sacrifices something so that others experience a sense of freedom. Some people have given their life. A mother who sacrifices her time and energy gives to her child the freedom to explore this world with courage and curiousity because they are loved and nurtured.

A solider on the battlefield gives his or her life to protect our freedom.

Jesus came to give us “life abundantly”, and His sacrifice brought us freedom that lasts into eternity. Thinking of the word freedom, I also think of the word purpose. You have a purpose this side of heaven, and your focused attention on your God given purpose will bring you freedom. Freedom from comparison and worry.

Hebrews chapter 11 tells us all about the people of faith who set before them their purpose and their eternal reward.

Today live in the freedom of your purpose and know that God is doing a work in you! Never worry or compare yourself to another’s purpose. God is working all things together for YOUR good.
