Parish and I continue to open our couples advent calendar. Here are some of the fun times we’ve shared!

Create a Christmas treat. We shared dinner in the Christmas tree room with my mom along with our gingerbread treat. It was good to talk and laugh. Valentina joined us!

Have a candy taste testing night. Parish noted that he is not much for candy but would enjoy cheese tasting. We did both!

We both had the same ranking for our cheese.

1. Apricot goat cheese medallion
2. Wegman’s Stilton Blue Cheese
3. Gorgonzola
4. Goat Cheese with herbs and flowers from France

We had very different taste buds for the candy. It was truly fun to taste and talk about why we liked the flavor or texture. Some of the candy brought up memories with our children, and our own childhood memories.

Anna’s top 3

1. Peppermint Patty
2. Goetze’s Caramel Creams
3. Cinnamon Anise hard candy squares

The most unique candy, of course, was the very sour warhead. Later we tried to see who could last the longest with the fireball candy. Whew! They are hot!

Parish’s top 3

1. The very simple orange slice candy, orange flavor (top left of picture).

2. Peppermint Patty

3. Candy shaped like a small peanut, and it reminds you of a Butterfinger. They are called honeycomb peanuts.

He agreed the warhead was the most unique.

Wegmans has a candy bin in which you can purchase a variety of candy by the pound.

Today we were challenged to go on a hypothetical vacation. We watched this amazing 25 minute video with Rick Steves in Italy (Siena and Tuscany). We learned so much about the history, food, people, and the beauty of the countryside. At the end of the video, Rick proclaims, “La vita e bella!” Life is beautiful! We are intentional about creating beauty in our relationship and the world around us.
