Sailing: Hope, Idaho

Today we set sail! Since we were in Idaho on the first of May, none of the boat trips from Sandpoint had started yet. After some searching, we found a wonderful man who offered sailing trips in Hope, Idaho. This location was about 20-30 minutes from Sandpoint, and the drive there was quite scenic. Even if you’re not interested in sailing, I highly recommend visiting Hope and Cedar Fork, which is just past Hope. In Cedar Fork, there’s a great food stop called The Clark Fork Pantry:

Clark Fork Pantry: A great casual option in town for grabbing deli sandwiches and “take-and-bake” pizzas that you can bake and enjoy at your own cabin or home.

In Hope, the recommendation is to eat here for dinner:

The Float House

We sailed from 12:00 to 2:00. The weather was perfect. Even the captain, Bruce, said, “This is a perfect sailing day!” He would often mention that we must have done something good to get this day! Our Captain was knowledgeable about the area and would share history and stories. He was kind, gentle, and humorous. We loved his down-to-earth personality. I highly recommend sailing with him. He even sold Parish one of his hats! Parish came home with a gently used hat for the memory! The funny thing is that Bruce was wearing a sweatshirt from Southport, NC, a place he visits to see family. It’s also a location where we vacation. What a small world!

Later that night, we took a roundabout walk to a Pizza place that comes highly recommended:

The Forge Artisan Pizza

We were pleased that our directions led us to a new area, allowing us to explore a different part of Sandpoint. The houses and landscapes were uniquely designed there. We also discovered a pizza place that uses Italian-style flour, and the pizza was absolutely divine!

We had already packed that afternoon in preparation for leaving the next day, and we started doing laundry. After enjoying pizza, we came home to relax, got into bed early, and looked forward to our journey home, which turned out to be quite an adventure. I’ll share that story tomorrow! If you ever find yourself in a challenging situation, I highly recommend being with the Dupres, as they are experienced and remain calm under pressure.

I almost forgot! We did go back to Schweitzer Mountain to say “goodbye”, and I did the Mountain Meditation to pray and transition home.
