I asked the Wells’ family to share their story of faith, love, and passion. Aaron Wells had this incredible verse and statement on Facebook about God’s love for us. I asked him permission to share. These are his words. Please pray for them and connect in Spirit and love with their ministry. When I read someone’s story I try to really feel what they are saying, what God is doing in their lives. I hope you can do the same. You don’t have to know them to know them. We are all connected by His love. Will you consider passing this post along to as many friends that you know who would be interested in God’s work and their mission? THANK YOU!
My family is preparing to move to the mission field. How we got to this point is a long story in and of it self, but this is where we are now.
My wife Bonnie, my nearly 5yr old son Vince, and my 2 ½ yr old daughter Veronica are preparing for life on the mission field in Costa Rica. Our family will be running a Global Outreach Mission camp in the Orosi Valley. We will host short-term teams, do medical clinics, help build up and support the local church, work with the orphan homes and be involved with all outreach ministries of the camp.
It may seem like a big sacrifice and a big risk taking a young family overseas, but I have big dreams for my family.
We were called to missions in 2010. We have been researching, preparing, praying and working to see the vision God has given us come to pass.
I know the people we work with will be blessed and will benefit from our work in Costa Rica, but I think my family will really be blessed. The first time I went on a mission trip I was expecting to help people and bring Jesus’ to light for them. But I have learned over the years, that Jesus is everywhere working, I join Him in his work, and when I think I have something to offer- that’s when God shows me that it’s me being blessed and grown as a result of the mission work.
I have hopes, dreams and prayers for my children. I pray that as Bonnie and I live out a live fully surrendered and fully trusting God, that they will get a real taste of what following Christ is all about.
My son is 4. On most Sunday’s he chooses not to go to his Sunday school class at church. He wants to go to “big service”. He stands and sings and plays air drums to the worship music, he listens and asks questions during the message, he loves when the information baskets have candy in them, but most of all he loves being with us in “big service”. He watches Bonnie and I taking notes and receiving teaching in the message. He watches as we worship, whether I am playing in the band or just standing and singing next to him. He is there, taking in all in.
My daughter is 2. She is a sweetheart. She is thoughtful, caring, compassionate and such a gracious hostess. She always wants to serve. Whether it’s an imaginary cup of tea, or a Clementine orange at the table for us for breakfast, she always wants to serve.
I know it sounds like I’m just a proud dad bragging on my kids, but I believe God has placed a calling on their lives. I believe that God has big plans to make my children leaders in their generation. I pray that Bonnie and I are a good godly example to them of how to live a life following Jesus with everything. I can see glimpses of it now.
They will be away from our extended family on the mission field, they will not get to live the typical “American dream”. They may not have the toys or gadgets other kids get to have, they may not have memories of white Christmases up in New England with my family, but we are praying that this will teach them to love God. I am willing to sacrifice all of that and more to see my children come to know God at an early age and live a full life devoted to Him.
We are currently raising support to be able to move to the mission field. We have about 1/3rd of the support we need. Many more monthly financial supporters are needed to make this happen. We can’t do it alone, but God is assembling a team of supporters to see this work in Costa Rica happen. Please pray for us. Please consider supporting us. If you have children please pray for them and ask God to give you a vision for their lives. Ask God how He would have your life be an example to them.
Galatians 2: 19-20
19-21 What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.
