You’re an overcomer!

John 16:33

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

These words are from our Savior’s mouth.  What things did He tell us?  More reasons to stay connected to His Word daily so we can be filled with His peace.  This world brings trouble, but there is no experience that you will struggle with that He has not already overcome! His arms outstretched on the cross was an open invitation to be purely loved, carried through this life, and to experience peace.  His resurrection is the promise that we will be on earth for “just a little while”–the Bible tells us– and then we will be home.

The Greek for the word overcomer:

Strong’s #3528: nikao (pronounced nik-ah’-o): to subdue (literally or figuratively):–conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory.

The word is used 28 times in God’s Word!

Revelation 21:7  “He that overcometh shall inherit all things: and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

First and foremost, our relationship with Jesus is key to overcoming.  Secondly, are our relationships with other believers in the faith who can support us through prayer, and their knowledge and wisdom of God’s Word.  I heard a pastor share that individual Bible study is important, but there are certain things God wants to teach us that can only come from a body of believers.

The word “overcomer” has brought new meaning into my life from a friend who lives all the way in Alaska!  She has been sharing her heart, lifting me up in prayer, and has been faithful.

Who can you pray for today?  And, perhaps, send a message of “YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER!”  It could make all the difference in the world to them.

Robin Roberts

I had the privilege to be in a restaurant when Robin Roberts shared her amazing testimony after receiving an award on ESPN.  I was so overwhelmed by her courage to share Jesus in the midst of a worldly event that I forgot where I was and yelled, “Praise God!”  They kept flashing to her sister in the audience, and she would raise her hands toward heaven and say the name of Jesus.

Mandisa has written a powerful song called “Overcomer” and included Robin and a few others in her music video….Enjoy ABC news premiering her new video below!
