One more night with the frogs

Exodus 8: 8-10

8 Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

9 Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people who you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

10 “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.

Imagine your entire community filled with frogs.  No matter where you stepped you would have frogs between your toes and hopping all around you.  The heaping pile of dead frogs are starting to smell so bad Febreze wont even get the job done.  The cacophony of their squawking keeps you up all night.  It’s maddening.

The exterminator comes and tells you, “I can do this now or later–you choose.”  And, you say, “Tomorrow.”

Tomorrow?

Why not this instant?

It’s hard to imagine the Pharaoh not wanting immediate release.  As I listened to the message from Adrian Rogers he began to point out how humans are prideful, procrastinators, and lovers of pleasure.  We will put off coming to Jesus in any circumstance–sickness, pain, grief, trouble, brokenness–because of these three “P’s”.

Sometimes due to a life-long pattern of behaviors or apathy, we would rather spend one more night with the frogs instead of claiming and believing that Jesus is bigger, and I can trust in Him.  It’s a paradigm shift.  A mind-set that starts to walk, talk, and live in the majesty of His love, grace, and truth.

We can nurture our “frogs” and hold tight to them–we become a frog!  We start to rationalize that frogs aren’t that bad.  We adapt our lives around the frogs.

God has so much more for you in this very moment.  Claim His love right now!

I have a precious friend at work who graciously reminds me when those frogs are coming back.  She uplifts, encourages, and demands (in a loving way)–BELIEVE NOW!

I pray for you dear friend–Whatever frogs you are stepping on and over that keep you from Him–BELIEVE NOW in a God who is bigger than that and trust in His Ways!  He has a plan for YOU!

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
