Message and Miracles

The power of Christ in His message to us as His beloved children far outweighs the power of His miracles.  We are often captured by a miraculous story in His Word, or in our personal lives, “but the greatest of these is love”.

God is love. (I John 4:8)

We’ve prayed to God to restore and heal, and year upon year He answers our prayers, only for us to, at times, minimize, forget, or move on to the next big need.  Miracles….

Because of our flesh and temptations, we often find ourselves in a place of “What next Jesus?”  and “Jesus I thought….”, or “Why Jesus?”  We live life awaiting the miracle, and forgetting the message.  God’s desire for us is to know Him, and live our lives according to His Word even if a miracle never comes.

His message of love is enough to sustain and strengthen us.

Ephesians 1:18 -20

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…

The hope to which He has called you….

It’s the mercy given to someone who has hurt you…

The act of forgiveness and a fresh start…

The joy in the midst of chaos, a dirty house, and an irritable child…

The absolute trust in our Father when the future seems questionable and confusing…

The knowledge of self forgiveness, and His unrelenting love for us when feelings of regret try to take us over

When Jesus fed the 5,000 with a few fish and loaves a miracle occurred.  However, the message was not about the multiplication of food, but trusting in a God who will provide your daily needs.  The message.

Day in, and day out, year after year, decade after decade…..His message lived out….

Today, ask for God to help you live out His message and live in the confident hope to which He has called you. Miracles will come and go, but His message is eternal.

  1. Thomas Lloyd says:

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the steps I should take, for unto you I lift up my soul. Psalm 143: 8 David cries out to his lord for assurance. Praise God it is there! The blessing may not unfold this day, but it is coming! As my Dad’s favorite hymn was “TRUST AND OBEY”, we too must put our trust in our savior knowing He will guide us beyond the cross to be with Him. Glory!.
