I forgot to mention in yesterday’s post that we stopped along the way at a yoga place called Embody Center for the Healing Arts. We obtained their schedule and decided to attend their dance yoga session today! Kim came with me, and we both agreed that the session brought a sense of release, relaxation, and fun movement. At one point, we danced in a circle, and Kim and I got to dance together!
TUESDAYS
8:30-9:30 am WildCore™ Movement with Brietta was the name and time.
Here is more information on her trademark “Wild Core Movement.” I need to research more, but some of her sessions can be joined by Zoom! If you are interested, too, check them out!
After our session, we headed to Schweitzer Mountain. I wrote all about this amazing experience in a previous blog while I was away. One thing I found so amusing was the picture in the coffee shop on the mountain. We stopped to get coffee, and I thought, I need to print this out.

Above is the point of view from a lookout on the mountain.
Here is a video capturing the winter season on the mountain and skiing!
After many days of travel and the relaxed state from the yoga, we came back to rest. I slept 2 hours! I woke up thinking, “What just happened?!”
We walked into town for dinner and loved this little spot, Pend d’Oreille Winery, for savory pizzas and filling, fantastic appetizers! They have comfy, upscale seating and casual, along with artwork that is unique and has a beautiful story behind each piece. They share the story with a handout. We highly recommend their Grenache.

We also found time to walk the magical Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail. You have to walk or ride this trail!
Quick Trail Tips and Facts:
- Terrain: Very flat and easy—perfect for kids, strollers, and mountain bikes.
- Winter: Grab your cross-country skis or snowshoes; the trail is beautiful when the lake is framed by snow.
- Parking: The trailhead lot is small (about 10–12 cars), so if it’s full, park at City Beach and walk over.
- This is the only spot in Sandpoint where pups can officially roam off-leash.
- Wildlife: Watch for Mallard ducks and Canada geese bobbing in the shallows.
- Activity: You’ll find small rocky “nooks” where you can scramble down to the water for a quick dip or to skip stones.
- Geology: The lake you’re looking at is Idaho’s largest and deepest (over 1,150 feet deep!). It was carved out by the massive Glacial Lake Missoula floods during the last Ice Age.
- Plant Life: Look for Kinnikinnick, a native groundcover with red berries that stays green year-round (and gave the nearby Mickinnick Trail its name!)
- Future Fun: There are plans to extend this trail even further to connect the communities of Sandpoint, Ponderay, and Kootenai into one giant “waterfront loop.” I so want to do this when it is finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did some shopping in town and found great little shops that offered unique items. The houses in Sandpoint have their own special charm. One house had the cutest cat sitting in the doorway, but he ran away before I could take a picture of him. You’ll see the house in the slideshow below.
