Cultivate Good

Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing. Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here’s what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; Snub evil and cultivate good; run after peace for all you’re worth. God looks on all this with approval, listening and responding well to what he’s asked.   1 Peter 3:8 MSG

A PRAYER

Today Lord in each situation may we cultivate good.  When all around us seems chaotic or hurtful things are said, give us the ability beyond our capability to speak life and blessings.  It’s so hard Lord when others see the world differently, are hurting and angry, and things seem hopeless to cultivate an attitude of good.  We confess our inability and ask for You to supernaturally help us.  Jesus we want to sincerely love and see You in all things.  Help us to be compassionate not only in deed but in Spirit!  We desire to sincerely love and cultivate peace in the world around us.

Amen

I needed this reminder…I was going to blog this morning about how rude and crude people can be. You see, my friend and colleague, Mary, had an incident with a massage client yesterday. I am appalled about how people think they can behave. So, based on Anna’s post, I am just going to say…God, thank you for giving Mary (and other massage therapists put in her position) the patience and peace they need. Thank you for keeping her safe. Massage is NOT a “sexual” experience. It is a health related modality to decrease pain and stress. It is insulting that some people think otherwise. We are well-educated, trained and licensed professionals. We are Massage THERAPISTS, not masseuses. We are here to bless people with healing, relaxation and compassion.

    • Char,
I’m so sorry! I just saw this comment. I don’t know how to reblog a post but noticed you had done that with Cultivating Good. I even looked for a way to comment on the reblog. I posted yesterday a message on how hard it is to cultivate good!!!!!!! I did that after some things in my life and a verse I was studying in God’s Word. I’m so deeply sorry this happened to your friend and your practice. I will be in prayer as you work through the hurt. I will be in prayer for your friend too. I love you!
