Your relationship with your earthly and heavenly father can sometimes influence each other. In our Bible study, And The Bride Wore White, by Dannah Gresh, the earthly and fatherly relationship were discussed.
In one study of the sex lives of a hundred teenage girls, the girls actually admitted that they often “swapped sexual encounters for the fathering they felt they weren’t getting (p. 118).
What was equally true was that girls who had the love, affection, and protection of their fathers were more confident, secure, and were more apt to pursue Godly purity–the pearl of great price!
God’s Word shares that we are to pursue Him at all cost! We can’t pursue fake, worldly pearls.
Matthew 13: 45-46
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”
What are your fake pearls?
For some of us, our father’s have passed or perhaps the relationship has been broken. Some may have wonderful, Godly relationships with our dads. Whatever the case, prayerfully consider spending time to write your earthly and heavenly father a letter. The letter would be different for all of us, depending on our age, season, and/or circumstances–but please consider.
