With the sun out longer, squeezing in some fun after work is totally doable. Sometimes you have to change your mindset from “I’m tired” to “Let’s go!”. Here are two AMAZING activities to consider in Richmond, VA.
- North Bank Trail
Link to the trail on All Trails, which is a great place to find the perfect trail for your needs.
Explore this 2.7-mile out-and-back trail near Richmond, Virginia. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 59 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, fishing, and hiking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
You will discover picturesque nature and historical spots like Riverview Cemetery, Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond Waterworks, Maymont Park, Tredegar, and Brown’s Island.
We continued the path to Shockoe Slip and had dinner at Casa Del Barco. We sat on the patio and watched the storm roll in and out. We went to E. Byrd Street behind the restaurant and called Lyft to pick us up and take us back to our car. You could walk back if the weather is good.

2. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts after 5 Fridays
Bring a blanket or sit on the patio outside of the Cafe! Enjoy music, dancing, and fun activities. Dogs on a leash are welcome. We saw families and children playing so bring the family, grab some friends, or make it a date night.
Cost is free!
They even had a GIF photo booth available with no cost. I’m including the booth information just in case your business or place of worship would like to rent! The children loved it, and you could fit up to 4 people on the spinning platform!
